Bear Spray Holster | Why It Is Built This Way | Lone Trail

From the field

Bear spray in the bottom of a pack is not protection.

Bear spray in the bottom of a pack is not protection. It is weight. The only carry that counts is the one you can reach without taking the pack off.

Why we built the Bear Spray Holster the way we did

Everyone who hunts grizzly country carries spray. Far fewer carry it somewhere they could actually get to in the four seconds that matter.

This holster mounts on your chest, on the sides or bottom of the LT1 or LT2, on any standard MOLLE or PALS webbing, or on a belt.

The design is open top. The upper half of the can and the trigger sit above the holster, which is what makes the draw one motion instead of a fumble.

Elastic retention holds the canister through brush, scrambles and pack-on pack-off cycles, then releases the instant you pull.

Questions hunters ask us

What size canister does it fit?

Every standard canister. The 7.9, 8.1, 9.2 and 10.2 oz cans are all about 2 to 2.25 inches in diameter, and the holster interior is about 2.5 inches across and 5 inches tall.

How does it attach?

Dual MOLLE snap straps mount it to the sides or bottom of the LT1 and LT2, to any standard MOLLE or PALS webbing, or to a belt or pack strap.

How fast can I get to it?

The open-top design is made for a one-handed draw. The elastic retention keeps the canister secure while you hike, climb or crawl, then releases the instant you pull.
