Lone Trail game bags ready for a pack-out

Heat. Dirt. Flies. Miles to the truck.

Your game bags have one job: help you manage what happens next. A fresh elk is near 100 degrees inside and September afternoons can sit in the 70s and 80s. Every minute the meat spends warm, dirty and uncovered is a minute working against you.

Fabric

Let it breathe.

A bag that seals too tightly traps condensation against the meat. A weave that is too open lets flies through. 40D ripstop nylon sits in between: air and moisture move out, flies and debris stay out, and the surface of the meat dries and cools instead of sweating.

Size

Make the quarter fit the first time.

40 inches deep by 24 inches wide. A bone-in elk hindquarter goes in without a fight and the drawstring closes over it. You are not cramming a quarter into a deer bag on a hillside in the dark.

The one first-timers miss

Do not forget the fifth bag.

Four quarters are obvious. The backstraps, the tenderloins, the neck and rib trim are not obvious until you are holding them with nowhere to put them. The 17" by 29" bag is in the set for exactly that pile.

Visibility

Find the cache after dark.

A reflective strip on every bag throws a headlamp beam back at you, so the quarter you staged in the timber is easy to walk back to on the second trip.

Reuse

Packs down before the shot. Cleans up after the hunt.

Five bags come pre-rolled in one carrying pouch, about 2.1 oz per quarter bag. Afterward: cold rinse, cold wash, air dry, roll them back up. The same set goes out again next season.

FAQ

Will these actually fit an elk hindquarter?

Yes. The quarter bags are 40" deep by 24" wide, sized around a bone-in elk hindquarter. The four big pieces of an elk each get their own bag.

I hunt whitetail. Are these too big for deer?

They work fine for deer. Elk sizing is the ceiling: 40" by 24" for the quarters and 17" by 29" for the smaller cuts. Front shoulders from a deer can share a bag, which leaves one spare.

How many bags do I need?

A bone-in elk takes five: four quarters plus backstraps, tenderloins and trim. Boned-out, plan on five to six depending on how you split the loads. A deer takes two to four.

Bone-in or boned-out?

Both work. Bone-in is faster in the field and the quarters hang cleanly; boned-out cuts pack weight on a long walk. This set is built around bone-in quarters and handles boned-out meat with room to spare.

Will the meat breathe and cool?

That is the job. 40D ripstop nylon lets air move through the bag while keeping flies, dirt and debris off the meat. Hang or stage each quarter separately in shade so air reaches every surface.

Can I reuse them?

Yes. Rinse cold soon after the hunt, machine wash cold, air dry or tumble low. Hunters run the same set for multiple seasons.

Will they tear?

Ripstop is woven so a puncture stays a puncture instead of running. Bone ends and pack frames are the usual culprits; if a bag fails because of how it was made, the lifetime warranty covers it.

How much space do they take in my pack?

The five bags come pre-rolled inside the carrying pouch. Each quarter bag is about 2.1 oz. You will not notice them on the way in.
